Men’s Shed at Blairlogie Open Day on 21 October 2018

On Sunday 21 October 2018, Blairlogie Living and Learning Inc are holding an open day at 685 North Road, Pearcedale. The Men’s Shed will participate in  the days activities.

The shed will be open for men to inspect the shed’s facilities and chat to members about membership and activities the shed currently offers.

We will also be running a stall and offering items made by shed members for sale such as toys,  garden fixtures and other items.

As part of your day out we encourage you to visit our stall, inspect the shed and chat to our men. You never know, it may lead you to making a decision to be part of our shed.

New members sought

The shed is actively encouraging new members to join the shed. The shed is currently open on Tuesdays between 9.00 am and 3.00 pm with the option of an additional day on Thursday once numbers increase. All men are welcome irrespective of age, social or economic status, nationality or health status although anyone wishing to join who requires carer assistance and who may be at risk of injury in the shed environment because of mental or physical impairment must be accompanied by a carer provided by them while attending the shed.

The shed provides for individual and group activities and currently offers woodworking, coffee and chat, board games and computer access, New activities such as gardening are planned to be offered in the near future.

The shed currently has a small active membership with a friendly, social atmosphere. Members are encouraged to do what they want to do and get what they want from participating. We welcome the opportunity to show you our shed and chat to you about what the shed offers and how it may meet your needs. Visit the shed and see if its for you!

New Shed operational and welcoming new members

The Cranbourne Casey Men’s Shed has now been completed and the shed is fully operational. The shed is equipped with a large work area, a functional kitchen area and a toilet. The building of this men’s shed has been achieved through a generous grant from the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services, and monetary contributions from Blairlogie Living and Learning Inc and the Cranbourne Casey Men’s Shed. Assisting to complete and fully equip the new shed have been grants from the Casey Cardinia Foundation, the City of Casey, the Australian Men’s Shed Association and  the Department of Social Security Volunteer Grants Program.

Building a New Shed

We are currently building a large men’s shed in the grounds of Blairlogie. The larger shed will allow more men to join the shed and other interested community groups to participate. Shedders will be involved in the fit-out and transfer of existing assets. Woodworking projects for personal enjoyment, and possible sale has been started. Fit-out of the new shed has now commenced. New members are now being encouraged to join.
